We transform war and disaster rubble into a sustainable future. Our mission is to upcycle concrete debris from damaged and end-of-life buildings in Ukraine into new, low-energy materials using a closed-loop, circular approach.
Through innovative technologies, we tackle challenges like asbestos while pioneering a circular economy that turns waste into valuable resources, giving materials new life.
The main goal of the project is to empirically investigate the possibilities for transforming asbestos-free war debris into a low-carbon construction material in an inclusive and socially accountable way.
The consortium unites leading universities, businesses, and an NGO from the UK, Ukraine, and the Netherlands, which are committed to circularity in the built evironment with a focus on concrete reuse and upcycling.
The project is being supported by the Government of the United Kindom, in particular - the UK International Development Office.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion are crucial principles of the project. S3 addresses the fundamental societal aim for a safe, secure built environment and pays special attention to disadvantaged groups.
